St. Croix Two Mile Swim Race
Race Date: October 19, 2008

Race Course: The two mile race will start from the shores of The Mermaid Beach at The Buccaneer and make a right out of Mermaid Bay towards the east of the Island past Shoys Point/Beach. The course will make a triangle before heading back to Mermaid Beach and back to the finish chute on the shores of The Buccaneer, where a palm lined finish line and steel pan band greet swimmers. Water: Temperature is expected to be between 78 and 81 degrees F. Wetsuits are not allowed. Bring lots of sunscreen!

Entry Information: Approximately 200 entries will be accepted. Those entries arriving after the limit is reached or after the event is closed on October 5, 2008 will not be accepted. This event is a fundraiser for The Nature Conservancy’s program to protect the coral reefs of the Virgin Islands. Entry fee is $84 which includes: swim cap, T-shirt, award lunch, entry into race, and pre race cocktail party.

Age Requirements: The minimum age to participate in the two mile swim is 11 years old.

Race start time: 7:45 AM for race marking and the race will begin promptly at 8:15

Maximum Time allotment: swimmer still in the water after 2.5 hours may be pulled from the race as per the safety director.

It is your responsibility to check in at The Buccaneer upon arrival in St. Croix for any last minute changes. It is also mandatory that you attend all of the event meetings. Times and event schedules are subject to change, please review weekend schedule on this website.

It is a good idea to confirm with your airline about their requirements for travel (passport, identification, documents, baggage limits etc.) well in advance of your trip and as we get closer to the event confirm all flight schedules.

We recommend a racecourse tour and/or a snorkeling trip to Buck Island prior to the event. Contact the Concierge at the Bucanneer to reserve a spot; space is limited.

Confirmation of entry will be sent by email. Due to the nature and complexity of this event there will be no refunds for any reason including event cancellation.
