Five Mile St. Croix Swim Buck Island to The Buccaneer Race Date: October 10, 2010

Race Course:
The race begins on world-famous
Buck Island, which boasts a spectacular beach and living coral reef designated
as an underwater park by the National Park Service, continues across the channel
and then along St. Croix’s shoreline of colorful reefs and sandy bottom. The
Swim concludes at the Mermaid beach of The Buccaneer, where a palm lined finish

Water:
Temperature is expected to be between 78 and 81 degrees F. Wetsuits are not allowed. Bring lots of sunscreen!

Entry Information: Approximately
200 entries will be accepted. Those entries arriving after the limit is reached or after the event is closed on October 5, 2010 will
not be accepted. This event is a fundraiser for The Nature Conservancy’s program to protect the coral reefs of the Virgin Islands.
Entry fee is $95 which includes: swim cap, T-shirt, award lunch, entry into race, pre race cocktail party, taxi to marina, and boat ride to Buck island

Age Requirements: The minimum age
to participate in the five mile swim is 13 years old.

Race start time: 6 AM taxis leave
The Buccaneer for Green Cay Marina, race marking at 6:15 and the race starts on
Buck Island promptly at 7:30 AM.

Maximum Time allotment:
swimmers must reach the first turn buoy by 1.5 hours and be finished in 4 hours; Anyone not meeting these times may be pulled from the race per the safety director.

Please read all of the following information carefully before you enter.
It is your responsibility to check in at The Buccaneer upon
arrival in St. Croix for any last minute changes. It is also mandatory
that you attend all of the event meetings. Times and event schedules
are subject to change, please review weekend schedule
on this website.

It is a good idea to confirm with your airline about their
requirements for travel (passport, identification, documents, baggage
limits etc.) well in advance of your trip and as we get closer to
the event confirm all flight schedules.
We recommend a racecourse tour and/or a snorkeling trip
to Buck Island prior to the event. Contact the Concierge at the Bucanneer to reserve a spot;
space is limited.
Confirmation of entry will be sent by email. Due to the nature
and complexity of this event there will be no refunds for any reason
including event cancellation.
