Coral Reef Swim Results On Sunday, November 2, 1997, the 2nd Annual St. Croix Reef Swim took place from Buck Island to The Buccaneer with 77 swimmers.

The five mile course took swimmers through the open ocean from Buck Island to the coastline of St. Croix. A variety of conditions were experienced from clear shallow waters with abundant sealife, to depths over 60' and 2-3 foot rolling seas. Kayakers and moored vessels provided safety and liquids during the race.

Results were as follows: Solo Male Swimmers (top five) Masters Division: Jimmy Wellborn (Tennessee) 1:53:33; Bob Halk 1:55:42; Jimmy; Cutrone 2:03:37; Gary Branch 2:07:16; George Eltman 2:10:42.

Solo Female Swimmers (top five) Masters Division: Rosamaira Meyer (Florida) 1:58:21; Terri Pyle (Florida) 2:06:15; Shelle Marsh (Florida) 2:06:17; Elizabeth Armstrong 2:17:59; Kim Palmiotto (Netherlands) 2:18:47.

Junior Male Solo Swimmers Junior Division: Kieran Locke 1:49:33, Blue Marlin Swim Team; Adrian Smith 1:51:12, Blue Marlin Swim Team; Morgan Locke 2:08:35, Blue Marlin Swim Team.
